![]() In a traditional classroom, teachers struggle to achieve a balance between dragging advanced students down and leaving other students behind. At Scholars, all students - from elementary thru college - are taught in "bite-sized pieces," building on basic principles which enhances their chances of success. Students learn one-on one with certified teachers after school, in the evenings, on weekends and during the summer break. Because of the individual attention, students are free to learn at their own pace, repeating skill sets until they have mastered them. And they pay more attention.
In a classroom of 30 students, it's easy for a kid to check out mentally. But in our one-on-one
situations, they can't check out. Students are also less afraid to ask questions or let their
mentor know they don't understand. Instead of feeling pressured or inadequate, students enjoy
learning and can feel proud of their accomplishments.
