Academic Mentoring
 
Students receive individual attention for reading, writing, math and study skills through our Academic Mentoring program.
 
Reading
  • Focuses on developing vocabulary, phonics and comprehension skills
  • Students build on their skills to achieve success at the appropriate grade level
Writing
  • Focuses on understanding and applying the principles of writing using Language Mechanics (punctuation, capitalization) and Language Expression (grammar, sentence structure, paragraph analysis)
  • Students begin writing paragraphs and progress to essay writing, following curriculum requirements
  • Students learn the skills to score better on standardized literacy and achievement tests
Math
  • Focuses on specific skills to understand and develop a complete foundation in math using Number Sense, Measurement, Geometry and Spatial Sense, Patterning and Algebra, and Data Management and Probability
  • Students learn the skills to score better on standardized math and achievement tests
Study Skills
  • An interactive program that teaches concepts and techniques that can be integrated into any area of study
  • Students learn effective time management, note taking, reading techniques and test taking strategies
